Jiaxi Yang was born in Shanghai, China in 1989. After earning her MA degree in Visual Arts Administration at the New York University, she co-founded Fou Gallery. And at the same time, she fell in love with photography and began her studies at the International Center of Photography (one-year certificate program). She was awarded the winner of PDN Photo Annual 2015, the winner of LensCulture Emerging Talents 2015, the winner of Surface magazine’s 15th Avant Guardian photography competition. And she was recently selected as 'Ones to Watch 2016' by British Journal of Photography. Her handmade book The Horizontal Mode of A Waking Life was nominated for Luma Rencontres Dummy Book Award Arles 2015.
